This page contains important information about SmartMat usage (English version).
SmartMat - Terms of Use
The user shall be deemed to have read and agreed to the SmartMat Terms of Use set forth
by SmartShopping, Inc. (“the Company”). When the user rents a SmartMat, it is deemed to
have agreed to the rental agreement separately stipulated by the Company.
Billing
The Company will send the user an invoice after installing the device (installation date).
Please pay the invoice at the end of the following month. If the invoice is paid by bank
transfer, the user will also pay the bank transfer fee. Please note that if payment cannot be
confirmed by the due date, a 12% (annual rate) late-payment fee will be charged from the
month following the due date of the invoice. In case the user makes the contract (by way of
rent or by way of hardware purchase) a partner company, the terms and conditions of the
contract regarding the usage of SmartMat, including the payments, shall be set forth by the
individual contract between the partner company and the end user.
Renewal of Contract
The inventory management and auto-replenishment solution with SmartMat is an annual
contract. The payment regarding the annual usage of SmartMat shall be paid in advance
upon installing the device. In case the user wishes to choose monthly payment, which shall
be individually negotiated and determined by the Company, the tenure of the contract is
annual. The users who wish to cancel the service must notify the company in writing
(including e-mail) at least one month prior to the service end date. If the company does not
receive a notice of recession of contract for at least one month prior to the end of the
contract tenure, the contract will be automatically renewed for the following year.
Cancellation
Cancellation or reduction of the number of SmartMat, after account registration and
entering the contract of using SmartMat, will not be accepted. In the case of cancellation or
reduction of the number of the device after account registration, the user will be charged
100% of the service fee (initial installation fee and annual usage amount) indicated in the
quotation.
If the delivery date of the device is rescheduled and the renewed delivery due is unconfirmed),
it will be treated as a cancellation. In the case of a delay of more than one month
from the scheduled delivery date, 20% of the initial installation fee and annual usage
amount will be charged as an advance payment in the month of the scheduled delivery.
If the midterm cancellation prior to the expiry date service tenure is occurred, no additional
penalty fee will be charged. In the case of monthly payment, the remaining months' usage
amount will be billed in a lump sum. If the user terminates the service before the end of the
contract, there will be no refund for the remaining months.
On-Site Installation Support Service
Regarding the on-site installation support service, such support fee shall be separately
charged depending on the number and geographical area of site, and the number of the
devices installed.
The Size Change of the Device
For the device replacement due to size change, the user will be charged for replacement
fee (1,000 yen per device) and the delivery fee. The user shall bear the shipping costs of
the device to the location designated by the Company.
Procedures at Time of Contract Termination
After termination of the Smart Mat service, the user shall deliver the hardware to the
location designated by the company. The user shall bear the cost of shipping the hardware.
If the returned device is damaged, the user shall pay the actual cost for repair or
replacement.
Communication Environment (Wi-Fi)
The Company shall not be responsible for the communication environment and stability of
communication when the user uses the SmartMat. In the case that the company provides a
Wi-Fi router or access point (mainly limited to Japanese domestic user), the Wi-Fi router or
access point must be purchased by the user (SIM card shall be rented by the company).
Please note that the SIM card has a monthly usage capacity, and if the user should not
connect any device other than the SmartMat.
Software Updates
In case the SmartMat is temporarily unavailable due to software updates, etc., the company
will notify the user in advance.
Replacement due to Malfunction
In case the device provided by the company is defective and the user is unable to user the
SmartMat,the user shall immediately contact the company. If such malfunction is not
attributable to the user, the company shall replace the device, for free of charge, within 5
years for rental (or within 1 year for hardware purchase) following the installation date.
JPY20,000 per device shall be charged after such malfunction is detected after 5 years by
way of rental or 1 year by way of hardware purchase. If the cause of such malfunction is
attributable to the user or due to the occurrence of force majeure (natural disasters,
earthquakes, acts of God, etc.), the repair or replacement fee shall be borne by the user
